here is some legislation I'm trying to get passed.

Greetings my Representative,

I've been thinking about ways that we could quickly lower the burden of high gas prices. In leu of any actions of the Federal Trade Commission on the major gas companies for market manipulation, let us look at this from a consumption angle. Much of the middle class drive to office jobs 5-6 times a week. My vehicle gets 27 mpg, and at an hour travel time a day and $3.50 a gallon, I pay roughly 40 dollars a week just in travel expenses. It will cost me about $1880.00 to fuel my car this year, just for driving to work. Now, I could figure out a way to save all my receipts, and try to apply it to my taxes. Or I could try to consume less.

How would I go about consuming less? That is where my idea comes in. There is currently very inexpensive technology that all people using computers have access to. It allows you to work remotely from your computer at home, using a secure, encrypted connection over the internet. The problem I have had in the past with trying to convince my former employer (a government contractor) was not a security, productivity, or teamwork issue. It was simply the issue of, "what's in it for me, the company". This is much smarter for the economy than issuing us a $600 check and saying get lost to we the people.

What if we could have 2 days a week, determined by the individual companies and citizens, where we work remotely and upload that day's work to the server. The company can also turn off it's lights that day and conserve electricity. If we did this, billions could be saved on energy expenses, and we could move to change the way our society operates. I understand that not everyone would benefit from this, but it would help transform our business culture towards the direction of actually doing something about the issue of oil.

Benefits of these Cyber Green Days would be immediate.
they include:

1. Lower fuel costs for americans.
2. 35% less CO2 and smog emissions.
3. Lower heating, cooling, and lighting costs for employers.
4. Incentivize spending on our Internet and CPU infrastructure.
5. Less ware and tear on our cities roads.
6. People could claim the use of their home offices as a business expense.
7. More quality time to spend with family and not in traffic.

It's up to you to figure out how to get businesses to do this. I suggest tax incentives. I'm sure this will also Increase the need for IT professionals and business planners. (EG new jobs in a greener economy.

Sincerely,
James

Your work is very interesting. As well as depressing, relevant, and scary. Which is probably why it's interesting. Please update more.
